सीजी टुडे 24 राजीव कश्यपराष्ट्रीय शहरी आजीविका मिशन के अंतर्गत नगर पालिक निगम अम्बिकापुर द्वारा शहर के प्रतीक्षा बस स्टैण्ड (नवीन कॉम्प्लेक्स, प्रथम तल) में आश्रय स्थल संचालित किया जा रहा है। इस आश्रय स्थल में शहरी गरीब, बेघर तथा अन्य जरूरतमंद लोगों के लिए सुरक्षित और सर्वसुविधायुक्त ठहरने की व्यवस्था उपलब्ध है।
शहरी गरीब एवं बेघर व्यक्तियों के लिए यह सुविधा पूर्णतः निःशुल्क है, जबकि अन्य सामान्य नागरिकों के लिए मात्र 70 रुपये प्रति दिवस शुल्क निर्धारित किया गया है। आश्रय स्थल में पुरुष एवं महिलाओं के लिए अलग-अलग आवासीय व्यवस्था उपलब्ध है, जिसमें पलंग, गद्दे, कंबल, स्वच्छ पेयजल एवं शौचालय जैसी आवश्यक सुविधाएं सुनिश्चित कराई गई हैं।
प्रदेश में विशेष रूप से सरगुजा क्षेत्र में बढ़ती शीतलहर को ध्यान में रखते हुए नगर निगम ने शहर में आने वाले या बेघर व्यक्तियों के लिए यह व्यवस्था विशेष राहत के रूप में उपलब्ध कराई है।
निगम प्रशासन ने नागरिकों से अपील की है कि यदि किसी शहरी गरीब या बेघर व्यक्ति की जानकारी मिले, तो उन्हें इस आश्रय सुविधा के बारे में अवश्य सूचित करें, ताकि ठंड के मौसम में उन्हें सुरक्षित एवं गर्म आवास उपलब्ध कराया जा सके।
